(1) Grammar Pet Peeves: Huffington Post Readers Pick 7 Really Annoying Language Blunders


Pet Peeve: "The thing is, is that ..."
Correct: "The thing is that you only need to say 'is' once."

Pet Peeve: Extra added plus
Correct: Each word used individually.

terms such as "Free gift," "added plus" and "extra added plus," which are all redundant phrases. In other words, "extra," "added" and "plus" all convey the same thing individually.

Pet Peeve: Very unique
Correct: Your dog is unique.

"very unique" makes no sense

Pet Peeve: Epic fail
Correct: Epic failure.

Pet Peeve: Overuse of commas
Correct: Use fewer commas

Pet Peeve: People that ...
Correct: People who are awesome don't mess this up.

Pet Peeve: Misuse of "myself"
Correct: I do hope that Courtney and I learn to use the word 'myself' appropriately.

erroneous replacement of "myself" with "I," as in, "I do hope that Courtney and myself are able to work out our relationship."
