U.S. Dollar

China, Russia quit dollar

St. Petersburg, Russia - China and Russia have decided to renounce the US dollar and resort to using their own currencies for bilateral trade, Premier Wen Jiabao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin announced late on Tuesday.

Russia and Germany should dramatically increase their economic co-operation. That’s the message from Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to some of Germany’s top industrialists at a business forum in Berlin.

China, Russia quit dollar on bilateral trade

I've been following this story on the English language China Daily and People's Daily Online

Russia and China have concluded an agreement to abandon the use of the US dollar in their bilateral trade and to use their own currencies in its place. The Russians and Chinese said that they had taken this step in order to insulate their economies from the risks that have undermined their confidence in the US dollar as world reserve currency.

This is big news. The mainstream media in North America downplays this.
I think it's underreported, it doesn't get enough coverage.
